Devils passage can be found in the canyon located below Skrad town. It was declared a geomorphological reserve in the 1962, and it has a surface of approximately 200 acres. The reserve can be accessed by maintained mountain trails, walking by Curak creek and with a car on a pawed road. All of those ways are special and interesting in their own way so if the reserve attracts you for a second visit you can choose the path you didn’t use before and make a visit more interesting.
At the entrance to the reserve you will find a “Zeleni vir” mountain home that has local Gorski food, different deserts from forest fruits and a specialty for the region a Skrad strudel.
Green vortex is a spring on the bottom of the shallow cave whose entrance is surrounded with vertical rocks and a waterfall falling over them. Green vortex got its name by the green water that occurs in the cave. Walking on the beaten track, the entire time you will be surrounded by beautiful nature and the sounds of slight murmur of water.
Second attraction of the reserve is the Devils passage, which is a canyon 800 meters long. There, between the tall cliffs, Jasle creek struggles and shapes the rock with its actions and leaving behind an enchanting sights of nature. Trough the Devils passage you have narrow trails, wooden steps and small bridges under which you will hear a murmur of the creek.
Above the plain where the Devils passage ends you will find a Muzeva Hizica cave. It got its name after a man that was master of the group of people that was hiding in it during the Turkish advances. The cave is approximately 200 meters long and has a lot ornaments. At the end of the cave, that is still not explored enough, there is a pond where olm was found at the same time as in the Postojna cave. During the visit to the cave you need to have a flashlight since it doesn’t have any lights.
