Description: Visit 1700 year old Split town, walk trough UNESCO protected Diocletian's Palace, magnificent St. Duje cathedral with its picturesque bell tower that you can climb on, main palace square called Peristil that that is surrounded by Roman columns, visit the Vestibul located next to the Peristil square, enter the Jupiter's temple, walk on the Riva promenade and have a cup of coffe, sightsee UNESCO protected Trogir town center, Kamerlengo fortress, Cipiko palace, St. Lawrence cathedral, St. Marcus tower... Split was founded over 1700 years ago when Emperor Diocletian started to build his retirement Palace, the Palace and the town center are protected by UNESCO. St. Duje cathedral was formerly a mausoleum for Emperor Diocletian, then it was converted to a cathedral with the accompanying bell tower. Peristil square is the main square in the Diocletian's palace, and it is surrounded with Roman Columns and Sphinx. Vestibul is located just next to the Peristil square, its roof with a circular opening can be accessed from the Ethnographic museum located in the palace. Jupiter temple is located west of the Diocletian's Palace and was used for worshipping the Jupiter cult, it was transformed in the baptistery in the 13th century. Riva promenade is one of the signature locations of Split, it is a place where all of town events are happening, there are several bars and restaurants there where people have drinks and enjoy the sun... Trogir is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Europe and is protected by UNESCO. Kamerlengo fortress dates back to 14th century and is located on the east part of Trogir promenade. St. Marcus tower dates back to 15th century and was built for better defense of the city. St. Lawrence cathedral was built and rebuilt from 13th to 17th century so it has different styles of architecture, most notable are the doors that master Radovan built.
