Pirovac - History
Pirovac has interesting story regarding the origin of their name. First time name “Pirovac” was mentioned was in 1930, but original name was “Zlosela” meaning “evil village”. “Zlosela” are first mentioned in year 1928. Legend says that first inhabitants of Pirovac were cunning and brave when they were defending their village from turkish attacks, at that time throughout the Dalmatia attacks from ottoman empire were often and common. Since the people of Pirovac were so witty in defending their village, therefore the name “evil village”.
Pirovac - Interesting Facts
Since Pirovac is located very close to Nature park “Vransko lake” you can go there to enjoy its immense biodiversity. The nature park has been included to the list of Important Bird Areas in Europe. Above the lake you can go to the small hill “Kamenjak” and find a sightseeing point.
