Skradin - History
Skradin was Illyrian settlement and was situated on the boundary between two tribes “Delmati” and “Liburnian”. During Roman Empire it was roman town and important administrative and military spot of the region at that time. After Migration period it was abandoned and left in ruins, but till 9th century Slavs settled in. In period between 15th and 16 th century was even under Ottoman empire. Later was governed by Republic of Venice, even Napoleon, later Austria-Hungary. After those periods as time passed by all the importance was starting to shift toward city of Sibenik and Skradin started to lose it significance it had in past.

This small town was inhabited In the Neolithic period and the remains were found from the year around 3500 B.C. The first mention of city was around 33 B.C. One of the first power plants in Europe was located in Skradin and in that same time famous Tesla’s power plant was built at Niagara Falls. City was nominated for Golden Flower of Europe award.
